WYCC 2009 R06: The Halfway Mark Passed
After the completion of the 6th round which started at 17:00 local time on the 16th of November 2009, the tournament enters the free day after crossing the halfway mark. It was a massive and tiring day for the players since two rounds were completed today. Tomorrow the players will be able to rest and travel around the Antalya city on the free day excursion.

The results and top board games can be reached through the links on the official web page of the tournament. Here is a brief summary of the 6th round:

In the U-8 general category the two players Aryan Gholami and Anton Smirnov settled on the first and second places with 5.5 points each. In the girls category of this age group the Chinese player Ruotong Chu who started the round with 5 points won again to continue her leadership.

In the U-10 general category one of the surprises of the tournament the Kazakh woman player Zhansaya Abdulmalik who started the round on the first place lost to the Chinese Jinshi Bai and backed down to the third place. The Armenian player competing on the second board Mikayel Akrtchyan beat his opponent to enter the 7th round on the second place in the group. In the U-10 girls category the Azeri player Gunay Mamadzada went on with her winning streak and continues with a perfect score. The Russian Irina Drogouz follows on the second place with 5.5 points and the Georgian Tea Choladze is on the third place.

In the U-12 general category the black players won on the first and second boards. With these results the Indian Suri Vaibhav and the Russian CM Al Mikhail Antipov settled on the first and second places each having 5.5 points. The girls category has Russian WFM Anna Styazhkina with 5.5 points on the first spot, Iranian WFM Sarasadat Khademalsharieh with 5.5 points on the second spot and the Malaysian Nur Nabila Azman Hisham with 5 points on the third spot.

In the U-14 general category the white players won on the first two boards. The Peruvian IM Jorge Cori and the Australian Yi Yuan advanced to the first and second spots respectively. In the girls group this time the black players earned the points on the top two boards and WFM Marsel Efroimski and WCM Dinara Saduakassova located on the two top places with these results. The third place has Ana Kuchova from Georgia who has 5 points.

In the U-16 general category IM Gujrathi Vidit Santosh still leads with 5.5 points and there are 5 players with 5 points that follow. In the girls category the WIM Deysi Cori from Peru with 6 points goes on top.

In the U-18 general category Spanish GM Ivan Lopez Salgado conquered the top place with 5.5 points and FM Nikolay Shukh, IM Maxim Matlakov and IM Kacper Piorun follow him with 5 points now. The local player Mustafa Yilmaz represents his home country on the fifth spot in this category. In the girls group the Russian player Anastasia Savina seems to liked the top place so much that she continues with perfect score after this round. She is followed by Polish WFM Anna Warakomska and WIM Kubra Ozturk of host country.
